Holday Cash

At this time of the year, when you walk into a department store, you might think it's Halloween, Thanksgiving & Christmas all in the same weekend. Lucky for us, they are wrong, but it can sure feel like everything is happening all at once.

The pressure of the holidays alone is enough to give anyone a headache, and factor in the cost of the holidays, well, that will have us wishing the holidays were canceled. Fortunately, we don't need to cancel the holidays, and there are some great ways to make extra money for the holiday season.

The security industry is in very high demand for the holiday season, which means even if you have a full-time job, you can make some extra money just in time for the holidays.

Below are my tips for surviving the holidays and making some extra chedda, too!

HOLIDAY SURVIVAL 101

Health-  Remember to slow things down. Your health is always the most important thing, and sometimes we need to say no. Take time for yourself.

*Planning- Most of the stress we have around the holidays is due to improper planning. Try your best to plan ahead and don't be like most of us with the night before shopping.

*Be Happy- It is so easy to forget that the holidays are supposed to be a happy time of the year. Don't let the stress of the holidays take away your happiness.

*Set a Budget- Santa Claus doesn't have a budget, but you should. The holidays will come and go but the credit bills won't stop until they are paid off. It really is the thought that counts and it's important to not spend money that you don't have. Avoid using credit and just use money that you can afford to part with.

*Make a List- Santa makes a list and you should too. Not that kind of list though. Make a list of who you are buying gifts for and start shopping earlier. Last-minute shoppers (I am guilty of this!) tend to spend over their budget because they are pressed for time.

*Get a Seasonal Job-The security industry is so busy with work from November through the New Year. Most companies will have flexibility with your schedule and will be happy to hire you even if you can't work every day.
