Life, Work, Balance

Life, Work, Balance

At this time of the year, we may be tempted to call Santa to ask how he manages his time so wisely. While I don't recommend calling the big guy at the North Pole, finding a healthy life/work balance is some good advice.

We all have the same 24 hours daily, but choosing to use them is up to us. While I'm not the best person to ask about not working too much (running two businesses and having a family life isn't easy), what's that saying? Do as I say, not as I do. With that said, here are some things I have learned through over 20 years of running businesses.

1. Learn to say No- Sometimes it can be hard to say no, but you must do it if it drains your time/energy.  We need to work to earn a living, so don't always say no to your boss, or you might be asking Santa for a job. However, it might not be your job that you need to say no to.

2. Leave Work at Work-Most people talk about their work day with their family, so nothing wrong with that. However, if you had a bad day at work, talk about it, let it go, and then move on to something fun. Like dinner and your favorite show!

3. Listen to your Mind & Body-  Not having balance in your life will wreak havoc on your mind and body. Please exercise (it can be a 10-minute walk around your building), stretch, and make time to laugh every day. Not taking anything too seriously will help you laugh and live longer.

The holidays will come and go, but life will never slow down for us. It's up to us to slow it down ourselves.
